The Life Empowerment Center offers an educational, directive, action-oriented approach to psychotherapy, with an emphasis on resolving the emotional distress of ADHD for adolescents and adults. Depending on what issues bring you to therapy, James Ochoa will draw from a number of schools of thought and therapeutic disciplines, from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to EMDR to mindfulness. He's as concerned with neural networks as with treating distressing thought patterns. The point is, it depends on you, and what you respond to. Do you connect easily to your imagination? Are you fascinated by neuroscience? Both? No two TLEC clients have ever been alike. At TLEC, we consider it a privilege to curate the kind of custom therapy that can help you move from survival to “thrival".
In addition to specializing in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder(ADHD), James Ochoa also counsels clients with cognitive and emotional issues such as:
- Learning Differences
- Bi-Polar Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Post-Traumatic Stress
- Academic Challenges
This one-session, in-depth consultation is the ideal starting point for those who wonder if they, or a loved one, has ADHD. Or, if you’ve been the recipient of a rapid-fire diagnosis you don’t fully understand–and/or an accompanying prescription you’re not quite sure of–you might benefit from this introduction to whatever version of ADHD truly applies to you. This is a chance to dig into the specific ways in which ADHD has impacted your life to date, particularly if it’s been complicated by concurrent conditions such as depression or anxiety. During the session, you’ll take the Intermediate Visual and Auditory Continuous Performance Test, review your results with James Ochoa and drill down into your life history, identifying the ways that ADHD has disrupted or enhanced such areas as relationships, career, the ability to set goals and reach potentials. With client's consent, James Ochoa can share the insights from this session with prescribing physicians and other health-care professionals.
ADHD FRIENDS AND FAMILY
People with ADHD are the original high-maintenance partners, parents, friends and co-workers. Even if you dearly love someone diagnosed with this condition, you probably have times when you get tired of providing 24/7 understanding and support—when you’d actually appreciate some attention for yourself, if that’s not too much to ask. Well, it’s not! At the Life Empowerment Center, we’re committed to staying in step with partners and parents of people with ADHD, helping them build better relationships through education, communication, stress relief and “strategic, therapeutic daydreaming,” among many other methods and techniques we’ve found to be successful. Whether you’re looking for one-on-one insight or a like-minded support group, we believe we can help you lighten the load and reconnect with everyday happiness. Please call or write to find out how we can help.
