  • Owner/Director . James Ochoa, LPC, Inc. , Attention Deficit Disorder Clinic, Austin, TX.  Coordinate all clinic services. Administer diagnostic testing to adolescents and adults to assess ADHD. Provide individual, family and couples therapy for clients with ADHD and other psychological issues. Facilitate group therapy for adults to further the understanding of ADHD. (October 1999 to present)

  • Psychological Director. Byron Kocen, M.D. and Associates , SHIPS Project, Austin, TX. Coordinated all psychological related activities for the clinic. Administered psychological assessments and neurodevelopmental testing to children, adolescents and adults. Held training sessions for parents of children with ADHD. Provided individual, couples and family counseling for clients with ADHD as well as other psychological issues. (January 1996 to September 1999)

  • Outpatient Therapist. Part-Time Private Practice , Austin, TX. Developed and coordinated specialized weekly groups for ADHD adults. (1993-1996)

  • Contract Therapist. Travis County Sheriff's Department , Resolve Program , Austin, TX. Facilitated relapse prevention, continuing care and drug/alcohol treatment groups. Managed a caseload of 18 to 25 clients. Lectured to groups of 10 to 30 clients on relapse prevention, drug/alcohol abuse and other related topics. Developed and facilitated outpatient groups for adults with ADHD. (May 1994 to February 1996)

  • Substance Abuse Program Therapist. St. David's Medical Center , Austin, TX.  Adult Substance Abuse Hospital Unit. Managed treatment for caseload of 6 to 8 adult clients. Provided individual psychotherapy. Facilitated 12-Step, ROPES experiential, and multi-family groups. Co-facilitated weekly psychodrama groups. Taught aggressive behavior management classes. (April 1992 to May 1994)

  • ADHD Program Manager. St. David's Medical Center , Children's Partial Hospital Unit, Austin, TX. Coordinated daily treatment for 10 to 12 ADHD children. Supervised direct care staff of 3 to 5. Facilitated social skills, activity and goals group daily. Co-facilitated group and family therapy weekly. Taught parent-training classes. (February 1990 to April 1992)

  • Program Coordinator. The Oaks Treatment Center . Hyde Park Horizon Program, Austin, TX. Coordinated treatment for 7 to 10 children with ADHD. Supervised staff of 3 to 5. Managed caseload of 4 to 5 clients through entire treatment process. (May 1989 to February 1990)

  • Mental Health Worker. The Oaks Treatment Center , Austin, TX. Coordinated day shift activities for 12 adolescent male inpatients. Team liaison with school, identifying educational needs within the unit. Co-facilitated ROPES experiential and speech therapy groups.
